Caldicot RC Racers

About us

Who or What are Caldicot RC Racers?

We are an indoor off-road radio controlled car racing club based in Caerwent Community Hall near Chepstow in South Wales. We’ve been around for 30+ years and were previously known as ‘Caldicot Radio Control Car Club’ or ‘Caldicot & District Model Car Club’.

Our core membership is 2wd and 4wd 1/10th electric off-road buggies, which we run every Friday night. Our members vary in age, experience and skill from little kids to big kids (the alleged adults!), and from complete newbies to national drivers, which means there is always someone to race competitively with.  We are a very friendly and helpful bunch and will always try to make you feel right at home and there is always someone around to offer help and advice if you need it.

Our tracks are made up of PrimaTrack carpet with various wooden jumps, lumps, bumps and other features and always offer an exciting mix of challenges for all racers!  With every track we build we try our best to bring the outdoor off-road track experience indoors…although we can never totally reproduce the full experience, we do our best and enjoy building fun and challenging tracks that allow for some very exciting and fun racing for all levels of racer.

WHEN?

We race every Friday night (except for Fridays in between Xmas and New Year). Doors open by 6:00PM, Heat 1 Round 1 starts around 7:30PM (depending how long it takes to build the track!). Finals finish at 11PM.

WHAT?

We try to run a relaxed club, but we have 4 Rounds of qualifying and 1 final for every driver. We aim to be finished racing by 11PM as the hall must be empty by 11:30pm.

We are based in a local community centre and as such our tracks are set up and packed away each week, which means the layouts and features change week by week, keeping it interesting and varied at all times.

The club is run by a small committee that is made up of a number of experienced racers, who have been around the sport, both at club, regional and national level for many years.   They volunteer their own time each week to run the club and promote the sport throughout the local region, and would appreciate all the help they can get in setting up and packing down each week.  In particular packing down!  Many hands always makes light work, and your efforts on this will be very gratefully received…so don’t be shy, come and say hi and get involved!

The club has AMBrc lap counting which supports the use of personal transponders* We do not have hand outs unfortunately.
(* currently not the latest MyLaps RC4 ‘Pure’ transponders)
